Course Overview

ITIL SL recognizes the value of ITIL, not just for IT operations, but for all digitally enabled services. Becoming an ITIL 4 Strategic Leader demonstrates that you have a clear understanding of how IT influences and directs business strategy.

To obtain the designation ITIL 4 Managing Professional or ITIL 4 Strategic Leader, you must complete all modules in each stream, with ITIL Strategist Direct, Plan, and Improve is a universal module for both streams.

The context of ITIL, with the release of ITIL 4 in 2019 is now much bigger, with an emphasis on the business and technology world, how it works today, and how it will work in the future with Agile, DevOps, and digital transformation.

Prerequisites

After the prerequisites are obtained the candidates must demonstrate they have at least three years’ minimum managerial experience.  AXELOS will then assign the candidate to an extensive group work session.  It is best that candidates are able to work together on the case study and bring equal contributions to the work.  A way in which ATOs can verify the experience is to look at job titles, Linkedin (or equivalent) profiles for the candidate, request a CV, etc.  After AXELOS confirms work experience and the group project is successfully completed the ITIL Strategic Leader (SL) will be granted.

Target Audience

The Strategic Leader is for high-level leadership.  CEO, CIO, and Directors of IT.  Those who have strong control and influence on IT and the company's future planning decision, what service providers will offer now and in the upcoming years.
